Something Quiet
Sunlight, clocks, alarms:
They call for us, "Wake up!"
Convincing us to stumble out of bed,
Unwillingly,
As the bedsheets, the blankets, the pillows,
Are all we have.

Bosses, teachers, parents:
They call for us, "Now work!"
We persevere through the day,
Unwillingly,
Another coffee, another biscuit,
Are all we have.

Paperwork, homework, chores:
They call for us, "No rest!"
Barely surviving, we continue,
Unwillingly,
The hopes of evening, night, and stars,
Are all we have.

Eventually, it is another day over:
There is no cheer, only a sigh of relief.
We stumble to our beds, wondering,
Unwillingly,
When did we become,
Like this?
I didn't know what to post for my first poem... I guess this is okay?

When the universe gave birth in the great explosion.
We were two particles which clung together.
We've made it through the worst you see.
What more is there - than forever?

Infinite

You dream of someplace
where the men have better
reasons for calling and you
no longer feel so alone.

Where the sun shines
without the inevitability
of the rain, where the skies
aren't blackened by the
smoke of his cigarettes.

You'll exhale the fresh air,
and you won't remember
the colour of his eyes or the
scar above his left brow.

You'll forget how he
smirked when you said
that you loved him.

You're moving on, the
past will no longer suffocate
you with the fragrance of
its cheap perfume, you'll
learn to count the days rather
than to tick them off.

One day you'll step
forward without looking
back and you'll realize
you are infinite and he is
just a glitch in time.

We will leave you in the midst
of a poetic truce, as you spill
experiences into our open palms.

Writing to make sense of what
has happened, nestling your
deepest secrets in our fingertips.

Our roots so deep in our poetry,
if you tried to unearth us, we would
shriek louder than banshee's.

Unravel our words, enter the
labyrinth of our minds, there are
sunsets in our stomachs, and
December runs through our veins.

We are the stars to your blank skies,
the pause between each ragged breath,
the tragedy suffocating the air.

We are the pause before the applause,
we are rarity's like Haley's comet,
making you scramble for a telescope.

Only crows writhing with broken
necks are more twisted than the life
stories resting under our tongues.

We are poets, engraved in history,
fluent in all that is artistic and worldly.

Poetry is a warm blanket we remain
hidden in on a cold winter morning.
Reality is a cold floor that our
bare feet are too scared to touch.

He's the dagger
twisted in my gut,
all the pretty words
dolled up with a
smile that is anything
but pure or true.

He's a spicy treat,
when all I'm looking for
is something sweet.

Perhaps it's wrong of
me, to search for love
in eyes that wander so
far I have to make
maps of their journey.

He has me falling
from the tallest crevices
with promises to catch
me with arms that are
already holding another.

He's a lost cause,
a candle blown out,
the stolen kiss that
was never returned.

But I'd bet all my
money on him within
a heartbeat if he said
he felt even a mere
shadow of what I did.

At times
The rain relentlessly rains
And might seem never
Never to rain once again
But it does,

At times
The sun incessantly shines
And might seem never
Never to shine once again
But it does,

At times
The moon dims its light
And might seem never
Never to shine once again
But it does,

At times
Stars effulgently shine
And might seem never
Never to shine once again
But they do,

At times
The wind relentlessly whistles
And might seem never
Never to whistle once again
But it does,

At times
Life is circuitous
And might seem never
Never to be straight once again
But it will,

At times
You're at a low ebb
And might seem never
Never to hold a penny once again
But you will,

At times
You're engulfed in doldrums
And might seem never
Never to be solaced once again
But you will,

At times
You're drenched in despair
And hope might seem never
Never to come your way once again
But it will,

At times
You wail
And might seem never
Never to smile once again
But you will,

At times
You're heart broken
And might seem never
Never to love once again
But you will,

At  times
You're lonely
And might seem never
Never to be happy once again
But you will,

At times
You're lover parts from you
And might seem never
Never to be the same once again
But you will,

At times
Your're in a daze
And might seem never
Never to know whats right once again
But you will,

At times
Failure engulfs you
And success might seem never
Never to come your way once again
But it will,

Every thing will
Just on cue.

At the end of a hill there is a ***** hence never despair in life.
The best is yet to come your way whilst you keep the faith that everything will at last be alright despite hardships.
Only then you shall have failure vanquished.

Would...

Would the taste of joy be less sweet if we didn't experience pain?

Would success be less triumphant if we never knew failure?

Would the innocence of a child be less endearing if corruption wasn't pending?

Would the right to freedom be less powerful if we didn't experience tyranny?

Would this poem be less impactful if we could not find an answer?

Do you know
what it means
to lose heart
when you
have
so
much
of it?
You’re loving
faster than
you’re losing
love,
and
some nights
even breathing
becomes unbearable.
