I love days like this
late day sunshine, early summer bliss.
The magnolia smells of home,
no matter how displaced
June breeze, calm and playful
your hand on my bare waist.

Sometimes I stare out beyond what I can see
and wonder who else has been.
Ancient southern trees
covered in spanish moss where leaves grow thin.
The night approaches
a lone rider with no name
the cover of darkness imposed
and fashions mystery just the same.

Growing restless in the thickness of heat
solstice tastes like sugar and a hidden moon
something mindless and indistinct.
Burning for as long as an eye can blink,
gentle little light of beetle make the way
know it could lead me somewhere far, far off
but here, I so wish to stay.

Wash my face with cold spring water
and my hair still smells like your cigarettes
sleeping under moon and alder
for once, I have no regrets.

Caught you in summer
by fall I'll be ready for the chase once more.
For now, let's just be gentle with one another
let us play upon the lakefront shore.
The sky and the expanse of a reservoir
reflections of a perfect sunset, lilac hue
it's hurts, it's true
in the end
I'm always coming back for you.

Fire ignites where it wills
fighting against the black of night
wrap yourself around me
take away my chills
be my burning light.
Dark and amber bottle
makes this twilight seem all the longer
we reach out for what we can still see
and in the dark we wander.

Bathed in moonlight's gentle caress,
Lost in the labyrinth, a maze of distress,
On life's twisted path, I falter,
Each step, a burden on my silent altar.

The cold breeze whispers secrets, "Shiver," it sighs,
Heavy limbs trudge through night's dark disguise,
Shadows cling with sorrow's icy embrace,
Ensnaring my spirit in this barren space.

In the distance, a flickering beacon I glimpse,
Its ethereal glow, a whisper urging me to wince.
Guided by its glow, a wary step I take,
Closer, my fears recede with each move I make.

A solitary firefly, sparking the garden of the night,
With twinkling radiance, it invites me to take flight,
Dancing through foliage, leading with its luminous dance,
Towards a hopeful morrow, where fears trance.

Through winding tunnels, where shadows twirl,
Deep within the cave, where mysteries swirl,
An exit blooms with lights so bright,
A golden aura, guiding to realms unseen in light.

To the exit, I find myself, enchanted with delight,
Amidst myriad fireflies, painting the dim night,
They sing with their soft luminescence, a celestial melody,
I join their harmony, feeling my spirit soar free.

In the garden of fireflies, where dreams softly trace,
A promised visit, seeking its own space.
Their ethereal dance inspires, a vow to keep,
To return to my garden, where wishes deeply sleep.

I extend my hand, they swarm, aglow on my palm,
A vow affirmed, in their tranquil charm,
Easing burdens, lifting weary limbs,
As we voyage towards dreams' uncharted whims.

Taking humanoid form, they whisper tenderly,
"Meet us again in your garden, where dreams roam free, endlessly,
Where wishes unfurl, and dreams bestow,
Together, we'll bathe it in our gentle glow."
In your garden of dreams.

The alarm softly stirs me from sleep's gentle hold,
Yet its beauty lingers, a beacon of hope untold.
Today feels different, as I rise from my bed,
With newfound friends and dreams ahead.

Your crew socks pushed down to your ankles
and a laugh further down your throat
a light April breeze in the mess of your hair
it tangles
and teases as it blows.

Change has been my lifelong foe —
We've been at war since forever ago.
Been in battle ever since I gave life a chance,
It was the only way for me to take a stance.

Losing control — my worst nightmare
That's a recipe for disaster, right there.
Getting consumed by the fear of the unknown,
Back at square one, no matter how much I've grown.

So every step, I measure twice,
Safe for now, but skating on thin ice.
Always making sure things fall perfectly in line,
Mapping my path, watching out for a sign.

Yet roads will twist — they always do
No matter how well I plan them through.
Now a higher power has taken the wheel,
Swerving, getting tortured by the despair I feel.

Unfair how time wields a ruthless hand,
Undoing all the things I have planned.
A single crack and the flood pours in —
Chaos ensues, and mayhem within.

One wrong move, one shift too steep,
And I’ll be falling, falling deep.
They say that change can set you free —
But freedom feels like losing me.

I'd rather chain myself in place,
Than gamble all I can’t replace.
No script survives, no maps stay true,
Control dissolves — as I do too.

Too late for salvation — there's only grief
But perhaps it brings a strange relief.
For change may call, but I won’t flinch —
You'll have to escape my grip, inch by inch.

And perhaps one day, I'll make my peace
No longer holding on, ready to release.
And maybe I'll even learn something from it,
Like that by losing the game, I've also won it.

A light shines so bright from the sky
Crashing down to earth, it explodes
Butterflies in my stomach, no, it's a rose

Growing until it reaches the heart
When it grew it turns into an art
I can't believe I am staring an art for free
A masterpiece that speaks of love and poetry

I was once a lost boy
Couldn't find joy
When you came, it all flipped
My heart beat, skipped

You are so beautiful
It can turn darkness to colorful
Like the sun that gives light
And the stars that shines the night

Everywhere I go, it reminds me of you
A mile away, what a view
Her voice is like birds chirping
I told you, my heart beat skipped, now it's working

I risk everything just to see you
Cause my sky rains but you paint it blue

Across how many times
In you, it only rhymes
Memories of us remains
Eternally, it locks with chains
Everlasting, I will keep all these pain

It's 4am
and nothing makes sense
you’re perched like a stray cat
balanced upon my picket fence.
Can't get too close
for fear of toppling over.
I try and I try
never been able to move any slower.

I say you're a friend
hands to myself, like you're no lover.
Find something else to do
another place to hover.
Call you my friend
say you're like a brother.
I promise all these things
knowing I believe another.

Peach fuzz on your chin
it has grown along with you,
can't remember when.
Let's drown these feelings away
go for one last swim.
You're a man now
and I don't know where to begin.
Glitter and salty residue
frames my blown up eyes
tell me what this is
remove your indifferent disguise.

Took all my favorite things
and threw them around my room
nothing feels valued
without you.
Now I am broke and things are broken
a problem to be solved
a lip that has been bit open.
Lick me fresh,
clean my wounds,
straighten up this mess,
and kiss where I am bruised.

Can you swallow hunger downwards
can you sleep it all away?
Work it out and calculate
revise and reshape
cursed and caged
by a body I cannot escape.

Another stone thrown across the river bed
another afternoon
without food.
I'm tired (so tired)
of this being the only thing
I cannot seem to lose.
