Today my heart grew heavy
By the pieces of a broken promise

Today my chest swelled with regret
At the revelation of your mortality

And so today, I swear an oath
That I will do right by you

I will fill your soul with pride
And make a father’s name eternal

Slowly move away
No longer in sync

I’m sorry I didn’t last
But let this remind you
Life passes fast
You’re just brand new
This is how God had it cast
I’m sorry my days are so few

I’ll never know your sweet smile
I wish I could stay to see you grow
But to stay a little while
I wrote this so you would know
That the thought of you makes me smile
Sorry I have to go
A note from parents or grandparents that never saw their children.

The distant glow of the city
Looks so pretty tonight
As I relax by the sea
and eventually
swim through an ocean
of memories
reminisce about our lives
as college students
Struggling to find sense and belonging
in this world
Searching for new words
writing diaries and poems to express
feelings and fears
desires and dreams
and the experience of life itself as we
explore our own minds
Passing the tests of time

As stately as a Redwood and as strong
as the gray cliffs of the Sierras,
as warm as the sun on the kelp-strewn sand.
I remember her musical voice and I hear
the murmur of the waves
and the whisper of the wind
in the Eucalyptus trees.
I see the limitless ocean and sky,
remembering her beautiful blue-green eyes.
I will love you always, Grandma.

If my bygone
            echo was life

I would have already been rescinded .

But back by popular demand,
                                                   nihility..

I never got past yesterday.

If your account of this is passing pages
then I'm an obituary that people skim past,

death on paper is still

a cemetery of yesterdays that people never visit.

As the fine flower life does fade
As the grass in the field life does yield
As the moon in the sky life dose pass us by
As the trees do grow life does go
As the leaves do fall the end of life does call
As I write this poem I wonder if you will ponder?

No one calls me smart
They all check my grades
Mockery of the success
Shameful of the less
Trophy for being a disappointment
I try my hardest
Just for the attention
The approval
Is what keeps me going
I want an A
But I’m labeled with a B, C, D, or F
The attention is all wrong
The ridicule
Not reward
Nothing feels retained
I want a place to post
To show I’m more
To feel seen and liked
To see mean and nice
To share what I do with a brush
What I can do with facepaint
See others
Share songs
But it's about **** time
That they see it isn't
The showing to others
That ensured my demise
The help they would give me
The eyes and the ears
To feel seen and heard
The spotlight again
It will shine on my face
As if everyone cared
As if I wasn't so scared
And I would feel cured
But the labels I gain
Seem to be retained
Without a constraint
Of worry and pain
School is no longer about learning, it's about passing

A rainbows end
Should not be sad.

For its life
Was full of color.

The other side,
A new journey.

Glimmering gold
Is where it starts.

Shining beauty
Is where it parts.

Then the clouds leave.
As is the law.

Around the bend,
The last it saw.

Do not weep for a rainbow-
Even though it may be sad.

When you mourn for the rainbow-
You ruin what it once had.
I started this about 4 months ago but didn't know what to do with it. I finished it earlier today in class. I don't know how it makes you guys feel, but it makes me extremely emotional and I almost cry every time I read it.
