The Elders took me to church
and planted me on the back row
to squirm and fidget
while they filled my head with stories
of women like Delilah,
          who seduced Sampson
          and used her body
          to weaken a warrior,
and Bathsheba,
whose nakedness upon her own roof
          made David falter
          from king to killer,
but told me that I will lose
value after I grant a man
permission–should he even ask–
to lay his hands on me,
as if the priest and prosecutor
could preach purity
into my dry bones
and watch me rise up before them
without ever having realized
the power I possess
within my own rib cage.

*"And the serpent said unto the woman,
'You will surely not die."
Though Adam & Eve were so cute
With God they had a dispute
Thrown out of the garden
Without any pardon
And all because of some fruit

There's nothing that exists as true as hearts that intertwine
and weather all the stages and the seasons of the time
And even when the world has chosen darkness over light
I know they'll see each other in the memories of sight
They've captured what is holy, incorruptible and pure
the burden of forever that will never be unsure
If cursèd were the people they had ever come to know
they marked them with their presence and left traces in the snow
To follow in their footsteps is the wiser thing to do
but nothing will be pushed upon the ones unwilling to
The lost can be at home with those who bare the fruit of grace
a youthful disposition can restore a weary face
With empathy unyielding and eternally at work
there's nothing left to fear because the honesty gives birth
To those they simply carry on the wings of who they meet
a cleaver and his wife have come to sweep you off your feet

What do I know about what has been taken from me?
It is dangerous any more at this age to sleep for very long,
as I may awake not even recognizing myself.

Some part of me leaves without my permission,
departs into its own journey each night--
perhaps into the stars.
What is left open in the empty space
where I have been ribbed and robbed?
It appears as a widening of flesh
that seems to resist closing,
a sacred wound from on high places,
carved with a determined and prosperous hand.

What returns to me?
How it arrives
is the same amount of mystery that was taken.

I see someone beside me,
outside of me,
who requests that we be added to each other--
a blend that only much deep sleep can provide.

This has come to me for help;
to help with what I once thought I needed
and for what I knew had been taken from me.
Now it is apart from me and stands beside me,
I awake with the pain of a blessed departure
that has stirred inside of me.

The beginning of a story
Read with me, if you desire
At dawn a huge explosion
Filled the void with fire,
Cooled and hardened into rock,
Orbits now another star,
A life sustaining prison
Caterpillars in a jar.

A thousand, thousand, thousand years,
Then a thousand, thousand more
Passed as though an eye blink
Before a creature crawled to shore.
What miracle was engineered?
Creating ocean from a fire,
Creating algae in the ocean,
And life from muck and mire?

Was the engineer benevolent?
With a careful laid out plan?
Or is the earth a failed experiment
Where the byproduct is Man?
And if Man was unintended
What results were meant to be?
Would earth have been a better place
With just oceans, land and trees?

Maybe chemical reactions,
On this random, rolling stone
Were responsible for all its life
Chemicals alone.
Astronomic odds against it,
But the odds of Heaven are high as well.
I cannot comprehend it.
That story someone else must tell.

Your sons are suffering now
for what you did then
didn't have to pretend
that you had it all figured out
or that you figured how
to love the gift he gave
They are punishing us
Do you remember being forgiven
for taken for granted all you were given
that grudge you hold hangs low
over our souls
hard to be whole
when one half
struggles, striving to achieve what you never had
open your fists and hold you sons
reveal your empty hands
tell stories, honest ones
you didn't know
and your life formed from breath he spoke
you didn't realize
and you were the first lives
help our hearts carry the burden
loving away from God has us hurting
one another, one after the other
Adam
what did you say to Eve?
is the fact of who's fault it was what you truly believe?
did you have to labor for her love?
was it simple
was it verbal
was it instrumental
was it poetry
I know it was biblical
religiously you lead
the race in who we strive to be
seen
as
impossible
Adam if nothing else
See the light in your sons lives
See you
& be brave enough this time
to at least save yourself

There are some who fool around
With human DNA
They say it's a progessive step
For the world today.

The deciphered human genome
Is a plaything in their hands
Just a toy to then employ
And change the state of man.

"Change your child's DNA!
He's strong as a horse!
He can be, and he can see
Like a hawk, of course!"

Just like in the movies
They've conditioned us for that.
Vampires and werewolves
And woman morphed to cat!

We can all be cyborgs!
Robotic legs and things!
We can be like Batman
But with automated wings!

Let's just look at Genesis
Look at chapter 6
Those beast/man Nephilim
Did actually exist!

The Watchers came and mated
With human women fair
The Sons of God were demons,
So we'd best have a care!

God had to drown the demon-spawn
To save the human race
The waters flooded over them
And there was not a trace.

Now God found Noah perfect
For he had a pure bloodline
There was in him no change
From God's original design.

Now, folks, what will happen
When human beings aspire
To be like animals yet again?
This time there'll be
FIRE!!!

What about our tender hearts?
Do they matter anymore?
The world's consumed with evil
You'd best know what's in store.

When we're no longer human
But have a cyborg mind
Will mankind ever be the same?
Godly? Loving?
KIND?

Humans enslaved for weakness
Do you find that odd?
We will be a "Super Race"
Usurp the Will of God.

Will there be salvation?
Or will it be too late?
When men go and take the role
Of the God they hate?

Be glad that God loves us!
For we were made like Him.
He wants to take us from this place!
He wants us to
WIN!!!

Is this all science fiction?
Watch the news! It's
PLANNED!
Babies being altered
To unnatural lifespans!

Because of overweening pride
We mess with things divine
Enter human suffering -

*
EXIT HUMANKIND.
"The Island of Dr Moreau"
Just a book? A couple of movies?

I once heard of an old man who was
dying. He told his son a story.
He had been in WWII stationed in the south Pacific. He was ordered to
place explosives in a cave. He went in and what he saw froze his blood
rock solid. There were CHILDREN
IN THERE. In cages. Some had feathers. Some had scales.
ALL WERE IN  A G O N Y.

He placed the explosives trembling
like a leaf. When he emerged, pale
as marble, he asked about the children. He was told never to speak
of it again, for he would not be believed. His commanding officer told him, "We won't be killing them.
It is a MERCY. THEY ARE DEAD ALREADY."

He wept bitterly on conveying this
confession to his son. He said he had
never told a soul, but couldn't die
in peace for the knowledge.

THE HUMAN GENOME HAS BEEN
DECIPHERED FOR MANY YEARS.

Science fiction? You can comfort
yourselves with that...

BUT WHAT IF IT'S  T R U E ???

There’s this tree over there
Blowing leaves in the air
And it’s roots go far underground.
Those apples so ripe,
Hold the answer to life,
They just need to bite if they dare.

So monkey one said to monkey two
Do as I say and watch as I do,
And climbed high up the tree,
Where the sky was so bright
Before God’s endless night,
And brought down an apple or two.

With a wink and a grin
He bit down in sin,
Then sat down and thought for a bit.
Monkey two did the same
And in a moment she came
As his knowledge washed down her chin.

They danced under the tree,
Unfettered and free,
And played until day turned to night.
As the sun went down low
Monkey one went to sow
His oats in the beautiful eve.

Nine months flew on by
And the monkeys did try
To build a home under the tree.
The first was born able
And they dressed him in sable
But the other used a cane to get by.

Now night came on fast,
And the monkeys at last
Left from under the care of the tree.
They walked far and wide
With nothing to hide,
No fear of a terrible past.

But then God knew their route
And remembered His fruit
That He grew from a seed on the branch.
So He sent them a curse,
With some words in verse,
That he knew that they could not refute.

Now the monkeys grew tall
And swung from trees not at all,
As they played in the ever-tall grass.
But wherever they went
God’s curse that He sent
Would follow them all to their fall.

The knowledge they gained
Was cursed to be blamed
On the wonder of God up above.
So all that they did
Was always outbid
By God and all He proclaimed.
This is my first deliberate attempt at an anti-limerick in sextet form, which subverts the traditional structure of AABBA by inserting a third line to make AABCCA with no set meter, or at least not intentionally.  I’m still learning form so apologies to purists out there.

Genesis 4:6-7

Verse 6.  Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?”

Sin, our own sin, causes us to produce the fruits of the flesh; anger is one of many and it leads to destruction. God is asking Cain a question to which he already knows the answer to. Our loving and gracious Father desires for us to be free. To do this we must be honest, let go and speak freely to God and open up. Give your passed sin and wickedness to Jesus; He’s far more suitable to carry such a burden. Regret truly can weigh heavily on ones heart. I may not understand the regret of ****** but I can understand hate and the regret that forms out of it. In 1 John 3:15 it says, “Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.” So to those who are, God asks, “why are you angry?” “Why is your face downcast?.”

Verse 7. “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?”

A Holy God must always separate good and evil. When you turn from God and forget the love He has and the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us; God must pull back. But even in that He is there, although you will soon find yourself in the darkest place you've ever known. God is there, waiting with open arms for you to return. “Do what is right.” What is right, what is good and holy in the eyes of our Lord? James 1:27(NIV) says,  “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Where are the broken? Who will go to those who have nothing?

Verse 7. “But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door”

Like Peter, once you take your focus off of Jesus, you begin to sink. Put your full trust in our Savior. Let go, be free, and allow the Spirit of God to lead you, to guid you; only through Him and with Him will you accomplish wonders. Until our Father allows Jesus to return we are to fight the good fight of faith. Be strong, be unyielding; Fierce as a lion and gentle like a lamb. Sin will always wait, at times it seems to be far more patient then Gods people. Give in to sin and it will choke you out. Like a ravenous dog, sin is ready to thrash and rip apart anything in sight. and it’s been doing just that since the fall of Lucifer.

Verse 7.  “It desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

In Gods own mercy he decides to give Cain advise. Yahweh speaks gently to Cain with words of wisdom; warning him of what sin has in store. “It desires to have you.” Sin wants control and complete control over you; “give it a foot and it will take a mile.” Thankfully, we have hope, even more so now since we have the Spirit of God living and dwelling within us, something Cain couldn't fathom at that time. God say’s “you must rule over it.” Rule over our sin? How much more can we, having God living in us and empowering us, do just that; we can rule over our sin.
