I had an epiphany
That we were never meant to be
I tried to fight myself
“No, you must be mistaken
this shall pass
you’ll get over it.”
Then alas,
You broke my heart
All the pieces were shattered
With disregard

Forgiven?
No.
Just very numb
To perceive
Any sentiments
Of fury and disbelief
Dazed by the illusion
That everything was fine
Until I read the last line

She speaks in tongues and earthwards—
Angels fall listening how to know divinity
From lips that open and close as do tides
Slip, blooming with the face of the moon.

She walks in airs of splendour and light—
Shoulders kin, her child riding on a beam
Vanquishing the sun with celebrated night
Set in reflection on lake waters, little moon.

I have a love whom I do not know
and when the wind blows we speak
sweet empty verses strung together
My hollow tree they seek

I do not send him kisses,
No songs are sung by birds
He does not hold me close to him
Ours is a liaison of words

His font is precarious
His emotions obscure
Soon it will fade away
Of that I can be sure

If rain could kiss the sun,
The clouds, so cold, would feel warm
They'd finally touched the impossible

The sun would smile because
It has always shone alone;
But rain came in and touched its soul
And it prefers company to light

But rain has touched everyone and
Those it shears it longs no more
But the sun thought it was different

But rain is ephemeral
And flames are permanently extinguished
So the sun died down and tried to shine
And it rained on Earth again-no different
this is an allegory for being with someone who doesn't care about you

Autumn reminds me of black leaves and dead lips
adolescence left to die on empty swing sets

Death death death.

Ephemeral light
Transience, transgressing flaws
Of eternity

I’ve felt happiness sink
In this tremor flesh
Sometimes I don’t think it’ll ever rise back up again

Pale figures stretch
Themselves apart at the wrist
Living transient
Beautiful deaths

I know the shift and the slide of my aches
More intimately than love
Or lust

I think when lovers collide
Bloom, then die
They depart redefined

Happiness has always felt so ephemeral to me.

First words carved from stone.
Chips fly and sting when they bite
Cheeks and forehead and forearms,
Tiny welts, hard to see, but they're still there.

Later words moulded from grey, colourless clay.
Too wet and hesitant and sticky to hold a form.
They want to slump again into an unformed mass
Like the one from whence they came.

Words scraped now in hard-packed, ****-bound soil,
Each requires pulling and tearing to take the slightest form.
A rain comes before the phrases could all be scraped together,
The concrete-like surface quickly softening into mud
Soon it's as if they were never said at all.

Why are all the beautiful things
In the world
Ephemeral?

They're short lived,
Here today and
Gone tomorrow.

Just like a beautiful flower.
That lives for only a day
Before disappearing,
Disintegrating,
Blown away
By wisps of the wind.
At last, I did E.
Ephemeral sure is a beautiful word.
Enjoy.
