Ok GO!
What is wrong with people? These online challenges are really...how do I say it?
Michael Stefan Feb 2020
If you dream you are a bird, you cannot wake to flight
If you dream you are a shark, teeth and gills shall not come
You may dream of wrongs being righted
And of fair and deserving treatment for all
But your dreams will ring hollow
For dreams are beautiful errands for fools
That come freely without consequence
And change happens in waking hours
Which is paid for in blood, sweat, and tears

Her tears soak my shoulder
As her grip grows ever tight
Her daddy got a new job
No longer working longest nights
I utter just a sniffle
As my hand glides along her back
So much more than a friend
Is leaving on those steel train tracks
That moment drags on forever
As she reminds me what we've been through
And abruptly she grabs her things and leaves
And I'll never get the chance to say
"I love you"

I had built my confidence out of fragility
It was like a sandcastle, so beautiful and bold

I almost believed in it; I was almost convinced
That this confidence will endure the strongest of tides

But then and with the first wave of reality
The sands moved under the castle that was swallowed by the shore.

And denial swallowed my presence along with the storms of insecurity and fear ...

Staring at what seems like an unknown face
Trying to depict what looks like an unknown phrase
Checking my head aching it for an unknown place
Where I can settle and the words will flow freely
Am not just a cypher who writes words freely
Sometimes all I see and hear are only my words
Waiting on those  that will become my words
The pain behind the scribble is not just my words.
Aching mind and soul all because you are always on the verge of productivity

Mounted the platform to decry their griefs, age upon age inflicted.
Soaring oratory, clipped grief, released flowing sorrows.
Sweeping how the moments passed, years amount to decades
Decades to centuries tumbled out, epochs rivers flow by
Strange how this was not enough for their griefs description
In times fullness, fullest times, Lord of the Hall interrupted
Have you answered yourself Dearest Ones, does your heart see what's undone?
Yes, we have and now we see and return to where we come from...
Inspired by the CS Lewis book  The Four Loves. So many times the answers to our problems are within us.

Accept change
with open arms,
I promise you
that the road is
not that bumpy
and that you
will be just alright

there's always a way out
it might be vague at first
possibly opaque
but, at the end of the day
you will look back
at the dark tunnel behind
and you won't believe that you were there
once

09/19/2018 - Poetry form: Free Verse - This poem can have different meanings for both men and women based on the perspective of the reader. There are many challenges that may come up in a person’s life. Sometimes we might not rise to the challenge to the extent that we hoped we would, or perhaps not at all.  The way we think and react to these challenges is going to affect how we feel about ourselves. What will we learn from our disappointments? Regardless the outcome, we are all unique and special. - Copyright © Mark Toney | Year Posted 2018
