Maha Jan 2021
honey glazed toast, and hot coffee with a drop of cream
cinnamon and sugar spilled across mahogany
untamed thunderheads rolling across a once pale pink sky
and beyond the garden gates
I often wonder if that's where it is
one more hue, to paint the entirety of you
I need some distance
but your love knows no space
My request brings pain
I can see it in your face

You take no offense
but you consider my behaviour vile
Your eyes scream terror
but rigid is your smile

Our relationship is plastic
our relationship is suffocating
never beyond the surface
your attitude I'm hating

You need to open up
Show me the nice and ugly side
I got patience, I will wait
I am not the one who must decide

"You need to open up"
Vulnerability but with no choice
She is ready to listen
I speak, forcing my voice.

Sacrifying my will
to make her happy and proud
Her silence is so heavy
Her silence is so loud

Shoved your foot in my
Doorway, and I'm the one left
Tripping over it
The History: Have you ever been kind to someone who you disliked? Have they ever then treated you like you're in their way? Never compromise, and never ignore your gut as people would instruct you to. People may negate your perception of reality, but you know your truth.

i saw that shift in your gaze
when you remembered
the last time
you became something
Wild, Hungry

whats in my mind, asked
with that eager
and far away look
in muddy water eyes
I sympathize, compromise

it's happened again
while the city lights
rippled the water
with their speed
you put your hands on me

and I doth not protest
when you say
i was the one that got away
so why am I back
so why am I afraid

to turn away or
say this ain't ok with me
why must I empathize
without boundaries
or fear an abrupt ending

to this uncomfortable moment
The History: You put me second. You put me last, asked me if you could grab my *** and all I did was question my worth.

There are no limitations

on how far people can go
and no boundaries

that couldn't be crossed

Some people are told
Never to return

They feel the firm clasp
That shoves them into the cold

But for me, you were silent
Your lips sealed, reproachful

And I learned to wear a heavy coat
To insulate from your malcontent

Your words like poisoned kool aid
Sweet and easy on the throat

But when I left I felt the cyanide
And the hole inside you made

Now I'm free and don't have to hide
My beautiful self from disgusted eyes

And though you did not say "disowned"
Your silence showed me the road

But ******* and your family too
This is much better for me
I don't care about you
