At times my heart breaks for some here.  I feel their pain.  How I wish that I could comfort them.  I came across this, which I have posted now, a long while ago.  Just recently it popped up again.  Maybe it can be a road map for those who want one.

The Stillness of Snow
S R Mats Jan 2022
For miles the white path leads
Silent, still, crisp air

Only a slight crunch beneath feet
Too cold to be damp

Come! We will walk

My Always
S R Mats Mar 2015
I love this poem, but it is going to break my heart.  For

I wanted life for my Love.  There were such beautiful things about him.
Yet, the demons in him sought his death in ways so cruel.

He was Man who loved family, friends, and thrilled to living life within
Brief moments; when the ugly moments waned or his demons tired out.

The distruction, which we have made will drive us to our own, I've seen.
If I were a brain surgeon I would have gone in and exspunged the parts

That slowly ate at your heart, my Love, my always Love.

Plum Full Season
S R Mats Mar 2015
O, how I wait for you to be fruited
In plump, shiny, purple orbs to be
Plucked and delightfully popped.

Please cling plum blossoms!
Tree, do not let go in the stiff breeze
As you have done year after year

To the point where you were only good
For lovely birds to roost, for feeders to hang,
For me to look upon your beautiful form.

The years before you gave no other fruit;
This year a plum, that one, maybe two.
The greedy children ate three this past year.

I look out in the light of a spring morning
And you are full of lacy white!  Cling sweetly!
Stop being so selfish.  My mouth is watering.

The Duster Queen
S R Mats Mar 2015
"I have never been content with being Amy*."
Her words break my heart because she is Amy.

She is killing herself in the loudest way possible.

Amy would sell her soul, she would sell yours, too.
Men fuel her habit of huffing her "duster".

Amy is not a *****.  She only sells her body.
*The name has been changed.  Amy is a composite of several people.  However, this addiction is all too real.  This is someone's child, someone's sister, someone's mother, someone's heartbreak.

We drove because we saw the top of the mountain covered with snow.
Our desire was to feel its beauty.  As we traveled up and up
The forest encapsulated us with its velvety-richness; and the sound,
My heart pounding and the cascading waterfalls, played the music of the Soul
In the forest.  On we drive up the narrow road until there is no coming down.

I feel the weight of every line,

Suddenly a soft purring, snoring rose!
She snuggled and they both slept.

S R Mats Sep 2023
Fade away flowers,
Just as my love has.
Do not return to grip me
In illusions, in delusions of love.

Brittle each leaf, each rotting bloom
Live for an eternity in this box;
Until the garbage heap consumes you
Just as my love has me.

"Oh, Harry!  Harry is that you?"
The old lady calls to the young man passing by.

"I have looked for you everywhere, but could not find you.
Why are they keeping me here, Harry?"

And when he pats her hand and bids her goodbye,
his heart is breaking;

For he wishes with all his being to have had her same recognition.
This scene is played out in homes for the aging repeatedly..

We climb the stars
Make honey in our hearts

Mad as a jackrabbit
We leap into dark holes

Walk among winged creatures
Quiver in our skins

And swear that we can fly
Feather-light on love alone
(Love can make us act crazy and think that we have superpowers!)

You shouldn't long for the past,
- They say
But, I long for it anyway

I close my eyes, drift away, not good
- They say
Not worried, I do it anyway.

I  see it is only normal, it's okay
- No matter what they say
So go ahead, just drift into times past

As long as you do not stay

(In a letter to his wife,  Wallace Stevens, confided that writing was "absurd" as well as fulfilling.  What of reading the write?)
What makes you read on?  Exquisite words?  Or
Exquisite thoughts?  Ah, exquisite words forming
Exquisite thoughts.  At times so beauteous as to be
Painful!  Meter clipping along, tremulous tones trilling,
Making the reader thrill in the "Ah, yes!" moment.
Writing poetry is absurd, if you think about it.
An absurdity bore of necessity.
The reading, a veracious devouring
Of sustenance.  The substance of souls poured out.

or should I live this day more fully?

On the one hand, lamenting what

Briefly through my mind in the halo of smoke.

Moving towards me
Or am I moving towards it?

What is that sound
Vibrating through me?

Is it moving towards me,
Or am I moving into it?

She is dead and wonders why
Her heart goes on beating.

She died each time she thought
About the eight year old girl *****

Feminine Vessel
S R Mats Jan 2021
A female is very different than a male
In human physical makeup.
There is no shame in that.
It does not need to be defended,
But it does call for an explanation.

Compare: Can the rugged bear or stallion
Sprout wings and fly?
They were made to plod the terrestrial,
Earthbound;
Their brutish power, ever recognized.

Throw a stone and you get a mere snort
As they decide if you should live or die.
But here is where the weaker sings.
The bird, that lilting tiny powerhouse,
With its fragile hollow bones was made to fly.
Each *** has superior strengths.  Together they complement each other.
