Leaves For A Second
I look at you, and I feel the wind;
the leaves swirl in colors I can't remember.
And for a moment, I believe it.
Leaves for a second, a chilled frost overcomes us;
and you're gone,
but the wet, browned pallet, hollowed by time, remains,
taunting me.
I couldn't get the phrase out of my head.
Leaves for a second. Ambiguous meanings are best.
