We wasted it so

Like storm clouds
we broke out
and flooded the seeds
we needed to grow

You held on to me
You tried so hard to see
when I rebounded
from breakdowns
that seemed to wear
down your strong spirit
that you needed to go on

We were stranger than
fiction through our
contradictions
You drifted within me
I poured within you
your currents of
reason to my torrents
of questions
We were
drowning in unison

But as you freed me and
I freed you as we were
both set free by the eternal
Source of freedom  
we need to keep on doing
our part in what we need
to keep on being free.

I hide my behavior
to keep you safe.

I keep quiet
not to offend you.

I agree with you
to keep you happy.

I walk on eggshells
for you and
it’s never enough.

but when the truth
arrives at that
final moment;

jaws will drop
plates will shatter
dogs will growl

and
you’ll be long gone
after seeing what
a ghastly beast
I am

to keep us
together.

I don't need
friendship
endless drama
love or laughter
I listen to the
spontaneity
of the wind
I study the
poetry of
dead trees
I begin to
understand
the adventure
of wild birds ...

I am a poet
That's lost all meaning
Words come together
Like a child crying, screaming
Dreaming of a way to make these words feel new
I am a poet
That doesn't know what to do
Writings not the same
It just feels different
Maybe the passions been tamed
Or maybe I'm just different
I am a poet
Or maybe I'm not
I used to write loads
Now I can't write a lot
If you were to ask me what I am I'd tell you I forgot
Am I a poet?

I am not hard to love.
I am not unreasonable.
And I don’t distribute headaches,
Like candy,
When I wish to express my emotions.
I simply express -
I am allowed to voice
My thoughts,
My opinions.
If it is a concept you cannot grasp,
Take the problem off my back
And dig deep within yourself.

In a garden full of flowers.
