The hours before dawn know all my secrets.

1am knows I am brewing my third cup of coffee from since I woke up and that it will not be my last one.
2am sees me trying to keep my eyes open, mind sharp and back straight with my shoulders feeling heavy.
3am hears me singing softly to myself, trying to keep away the loneliness slowly sinking in.
4am feels my rapid heartbeat, struggling to breathe with blurry eyes and tear-stained cheeks.

And I fall asleep.

Let's stop pretending.
We keep pushing and pulling.
Choose me as your muse,
and I'll give you the world.

I wish I could think of a formula
that could tell me exactly how you feel.
Because I'm stuck in an infinite loop
of you tugging at my heartstrings
and then feeling ignored the next minute.

I keep on thinking,
imagining life with you,
if that would happen.

I wonder if you'll get this message.

Lost in a vast ocean of words,
Inside a tiny heart-shaped box,
Kept secret in a code,
Ends up in your hands.

Until you figure it out.
What's the message?

I see us walking
in a supermarket aisle,
holding hands, laughing.

Maybe one day,
we'll be standing in the kitchen,
making a grocery list.

Maybe one day,
we'll be sitting outside in the grass,
reading our favorite books.

Maybe one day,
you'll be holding my hand,
as we drive back home.

Maybe one day,
I'll wake up to a reality,
where these dreams came true,
and the sound of your heartbeat,
is the first thing I'll hear in the morning,
lulling me back to sleep.
Kinda rusty.
