Welcome to death
to what hides in that instant
when decision and courage meet

Welcome to pain
they wept for me
they tried to follow
and when I returned
I saw pain
dull pain
wretched pain
like bodies on fire
on a frozen lake
lay they lay
breathing death
while all the
world around them
mocks their agony

I listen to lies
that same old refrain
but I can't help I listen
again and again

when I look at the ground
or up at the sky
there's so much around
but never a lie

and I look in myself
if ever I try
whenever I do
there's never a lie

so I think it's just you
all you say all you do
are all lies.. lies

lies lies lies lies lies
lies lies lies
they're all lies.. lies

so what can I do
but just listen to you
and just smile and listen
to your lies

See the love
that you offer
has been bought
and been paid for
and I won't get caught
won't get played more
than I have to

see all my dreams
go unanswered
and the shame's
just an afterthought
and all those hills
that I climb up
when I lay down
please don't speak up
more than you have to

cuz I've held love beside me
let her dream let her sigh see
and she's dying inside me
right now

so I won't dream
more than I have to
I'll just be quiet
and wait
til I go home

So look at, look at how she lays
her eyes so soft, her quiet ways
and how I wish, she was mine
but we've run out of time

Ohsongya, you've given up on dreams
and fell in love with rocks
but don't give up on me
Ohsongya, I've waited for so long
now I can't believe your slippin away
my love for you is so, Ohsongya

how can I make it right
when nothing will ever do
until you tell me that your mine
my dreams just won't come true
and I have a dozen dreams
only want you here by me
don't leave

God you're pretty and
you got such lovely hair
your clothes are *****
but we don't even care

and rich boys walk by
and see you lyin there
they try to say hi
but you don't even care

some say you're crazy
well maybe that's true
but how I'd love to spend
a lazy morning with you

so blow by me barefoot
please show me your smile
to see you all made up
would really be worthwhile

just a girl

Hi. this one was written about
a young woman who I would
see often in and around
Peoples Park,
Berkeley, California.
it's actually a song.
I lived february til may in
that great town in 1987.

Wake up love
wake up and see
that there's
ears and eyes
waiting to be
loved

and her carved out day
kisses the night
and her smile
is at peace
for a moment

but *****'s so dedicated
she fashioned and cut out
fine portraits, for you

but you can't see
my love, your asleep

so wake up love
wake up and see
her love and me
we're waiting to be

If I could speak
four syllables
I'd tell a girl that
I love her so
and I'd tell her
she's so lovable
if I could speak

yeah if I could talk
oh if I could see
I'd tell her that
she's so heavenly
and I'd tell her
she's alone like me
if I could talk

but I can't say yes
and I can't say no
and I can't confess
what we already know

what a beautiful life
for me and you
if I could only speak
so true
