Power of the tongue
Do not tread lightly, for We
Can speak life or death
Disgust clouds my mind, but I must restrain my putrid tongue. I have fallen, perhaps I remain grounded for cursing myself.

My pen offends me
Acted like I didn’t see
But, it wrote the truth
Dug the quill to deep, seen my shadows in the ink.

The Tree’s last leaf falls
Does it reflect on Spring’s blooms;
Dreaming with eyes closed
Sometimes those blooms bore such sour fruit.
I do enjoy attempting haiku with Nature elements. I should take some time to study the development of the Haiku and its form.

Im glad that the Heart
Beats only on its accord
For my Mind, gave up
David J Feb 22
He sighs; chancing a look in the mirror
Eyes glaring back with unrestrained disdain
His heart rises, breaths accelerate
Offering his reflection only contempt
. . .
That wretched reflection only he sees
Despise yourself you worthless dog
Resent your abhorrent self
Don't forget your place

Another glass poured
He knows my favorite drink
Tepidly . . . I take it
“It’s on the house…”

The cold needle pressed into my arm
Pushing song after song until I feel warm.
Laying there in my own personal comatose
Only feeling beat after beat as I overdose

Drowned out in my world of song
Fade deeper and deeper like nothings wrong
Between the headphones only I exist
Music my life support, my IV in my wrist
Another late night regretting life choices
Escaping the world and my late invoices
Music my drug and dearest friend
Carry me through the night that never ends
